Palomar College Campus Tour
May 29 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join AIA Palomar for a tour of Palomar College’s New Maintenance & Operations Building, followed by networking at San Marcos Brewery
Designed for LEED Platinum certification and named Engineering News-Record Magazine’s Best Green Project in Southern California, the project uses a unique passive design system to embrace the Southern California climate, and a narrow footprint helps achieve optimal temperatures throughout the building year-round. Palomar’s campus facilities manager will also provide a tour of the new library project, designed by LPA, one of three buildings that the firm did with a contiguous location.
Continuing Education Credits: 2.5 CE Learning Units, HSW-eligible
Course Description: In April 2019, Palomar Community College celebrated the grand opening of two new campus facilities. The 28,000 SF M&O Facility, designed by BNIM, has earned a Living Building Petal Certification (equivalent to LEED Platinum status) and has been named a national “Best of the Best” project in Green Design by Engineering News-Record magazine. The second complex, designed by architects LPA, is an 85,000 SF library and learning resource center. The four-story building generously provides natural light to its multiple study areas and delivers dramatic views of the surrounding landscape.
